So May 3, 2018 was Michael and I's second year anniversary. We are big foodies, and love trying new places. A few months before, one of my best friend's and food blogger, Toniann D'Ambrosio, suggested to me to try Wolfgang's Steakhouse in NYC. Her and her boyfriend have gone before and they absolutely LOVED IT. I told Michael about the suggestion, and we looked into it and immediately made our reservation over a month in advance. While looking up Wolfgang's in NYC, we found out that there are five locations: Times Square, Park Ave, TriBeCa, MidTown East, and Somerville, NJ. We decided to go to the Times Square location due to it being closer to our home.
After arriving to the location, we realized this Wolfgang's was located inside the NY Times building. Upon entering, the restaurant was dimly lit, and the ceiling to floor glass walls were definitely a unique touch. From our seats, if you looked to your left, you saw a gift shop on the other side of the glass wall, and the glass wall behind us was a lobby for the building. We were quickly brought to our seat, and our waiter was absolutely amazingly professional and funny all at the same time. All the waiters were well educated on all the food and drink items on the menu, and our waiter was able to pick out the best wine for my boyfriend and I. I told him very vaguely what type of wine I liked, and somehow he was able to find a wine with the exact taste I was looking for. My boyfriend is not a wine drinker and even HE enjoyed the wine.
For appetizers, Mike and I each got a crab cake and canadian bacon. The crab cakes were so rich in flavor, and extremely fresh. The Canadian bacon was fantastic as well, especially after the waiter suggested we use the steak sauce that was on the table. I would definitely get the crab cakes again, but I would do without the Canadian bacon, because right after we were served our Porterhouse Steak for two......
Our Porterhouse Steak for two was absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD. The Filet Mignon was so soft, it practically MELTED in my mouth. The flavorings put on the plate and on the Porterhouse created the perfect medley of savory and rich flavor. For our sides, we ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. Combining the Lobster Mac and Cheese/ Mashed Potatoes with the meat was absolutely divine. The wine paired nicely with EVERYTHING.
I am the type of foodie that likes to end a meal on a sweet note, so I ordered Tartufo for Mike and I. The chocolate shell of the tartufo was mouth watering and the pistachio ice cream was the final sweet touch I needed to end the night.
I brought the remaining left overs home, and the next day I ate it, it still tasted as good as it did at the restaurant.
I would definitely come here again, as long as I fasted the whole day!
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
