Since 2004, Pixar has left us waiting for a sequel to the Incredibles movie. The successful movie became very popular amongst households all over the world, from people religiously reciting famous lines from the movie like " HONEY, WHERE IS MY SUPERSUIT????" to families dressing up as the family from the Incredibles. Rumors stirred for years about possible release dates for a sequel, but on June 15,2018 the rumors became true. Incredibles released their sequel!
I was very fortunate enough to be invited by Chrysler to attend a special screening held at the Garden State Plaza AMC, a movie theater close to home. I decided to invite my parents since this was a movie we all have been waiting to see. Walking in to the screening, we were greeted by a very sweet girl who gave us all big buckets of popcorn and large cups for us to fill whatever beverage we'd like.
Families of all ages filled the theater, and promptly at 1pm, the movie started. Just to give you a brief idea on what this sequel is about, the movie is set in a time where superheroes are illegal. Just as Helen and Bob are getting ready to start life back up as a normal family, a rich businessman and his sister reach out to Helen to work with them to be an advocate for superheroes, so to lift the banning of superheroes. As Helen is off to work, you see Bob struggle to keep up with "housedad" responsibilities, while on top of that trying to control Jack-Jacks newly discovered super powers. As the movie goes on, we see that not everyone is who they make themselves out to be, and from there we see lots of INCREDIBLE ACTION from Frozone, the Incredible family and a few new faces.
It is interesting watching this movie as an adult, because one can pick up on so many subliminal messages, many of which were political. I won't spoil it for you, but if you decide to watch, see if you notice any.
So to answer the question, "Was it worth the 14 year wait?" Yes, yes it sure was. Just hoping that IF they decide to make a third one, it won't take another 14 years.
Here is my suggestion while going to watch this movie: If you have a little kid who screams a lot, DO NOT BRING THEM TO THIS MOVIE. Most young adults have been waiting since we were little to see this sequel, and the experience should ruined by screaming children who don't appreciate the true awesomeness of this movie.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
