Alright, guys. It has officially reached temperatures below freezing in NJ and NYC and you know what that means...NETFLIX AND CHILL.
It is too cold to be doing any activities outside and with all the icy roads, it is not the best decision to drive unless you absolutely have to. So what is there to do? I use these freezing temperatures as an excuse to unwind, and watch some Netflix. During this freezing day, I decided to give my readers some highly suggested Netflix finds so you don't have to take half the day trying to figure out what to watch.
So, sit back, put on your favorite facial mask, pour yourself your favorite glass of wine (or a cup of hot cocoa) and check out these Netflix finds:
Good Girls: (2018)
When sisters Beth and Annie and their best friend Ruby become fed up with playing by the rules and not getting the respect they deserve, they band together to take control of their lives -- by holding up a local grocery store. Beth's the perfect wife and mother, but her used-car-dealing, cheating husband has sent her family into financial ruin; Ruby is happily married to a policeman but can't afford the medical bills and experimental drugs to help her daughter; and Annie, a single mom, is caught in a nasty custody battle with her ex. In desperate need of money, the women plan the heist expecting to ease their financial burdens. But new to the game of crime, they get pulled in deeper than they ever imagined -- and the only way out of this will be together.
Death By Magic: (2018)
In this reality show, Magician Drummond Money-Coutts travels the globe, where he shares his infectious love of his craft with people he comes across in the cities he travels. His goal while traveling to these different destinations is to successfully magic tricks that were fatal to some of the greats. The illusions and magic that Drummond demonstrates on the show keeps you at the edge of the seat and keep you fully entertained and attentive during the 40 minute episodes.
According to an IMDB user, YOU is based on Caroline Kepnes' best-selling novel. YOU is a 21st century love story that asks, "What would you do for love?" When a brilliant bookstore manager crosses paths with an aspiring writer, his answer becomes clear: anything. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle - and person - in his way. I myself have not watched this show yet but I have heard nothing but good reviews about this show. I love creepy shows like this, plus, it has Dan Humphries from Gossip Girl.... who WOULDN'T want to watch this show after hearing that?
Droppin Cash: (2018)
This reality show, hosted by Complex, brings you into the daily life of some of your favorite Los Angeles celebrities, including Iggy Azalea and Curren$y. These celebrities take you into their home, show you some of their prized possessions, and then bring you to some of their favorite shops to shop and and drop tons of cash. Driving from one shopping destination to another, you get to learn about each celebrity on a more personal level and learn things that you may not have known. This show is great for those who love to follow pop culture, celebrities, fashion and luxurious living.
Annie Landsberg and Owen Milgrim are two strangers who are drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial. Each has a different reason for participating in the experiment -- she is disaffected and aimless, fixated on broken relationships with her mother and sister, while he has struggled throughout his life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia. The radical treatment, using pills that the inventor claims can repair anything about the mind, draws Annie, Owen and 10 other subjects into a three-day drug trial that they're told will permanently solve all of their problems, with no complications or side effects. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned. This show is so good but also extremely freaky because I could see this becoming a world we live in. Definitely a must watch.
The Haunting of Hill House: (2018)
This horror television series is about 5 siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country. Now adults, they are forced back together in the face of tragedy and must finally confront the ghosts of their past. In each episode of the series, you learn about each sibling in great detail and how they came to be who they are. I am a huge horror geek, so it takes a lot to make me jump out of my seat.... and this show made me jump several times throughout the series. This was one of my favorite shows on Netflix and highly suggest it to anyone else who enjoys horror.
Dark Tourist: (2018)
In this documentary series, New Zealand filmmaker and journalist David Farrier visits unusual, and often macabre, tourism spots around the world. From a nuclear lake to a haunted forest, Farrier brings his viewers to parts of the world that not many can say they've been. He talks about the history of each location, interviews locals from the area, and really makes the viewer feel as if you are in on this adventure with him. If you are a travel junkie who loves learning about different beliefs, traditions, and cultures, this show is most definitely for you.
