With summer quickly approaching us, we need to make sure we take advantage of the beautiful summer weather! Money can be tight, but that doesn't mean you still can't have fun! I have created a list of a few fun date ideas that you, your significant other or even your group of friends can do together!
1. Have a Picnic!
Go to a public park, lay out of a blanket or find a table, bring coolers of food and drinks, speakers and you've got yourself a date! Nothing is more relaxing than breathing in the summer air, eating a nice cold watermelon with a cold water or lemonade! To add to the picnic date, you can even go to a local farmer's market (They are usually hosted either in a public park or close to one) buy some fresh healthy foods for your picnic date! It's fun to see all the different vendors, and it definitely is cool helping out local businesses too! If you don't take time for a farmer's market, pick up some items at the grocery store and prepare the food together. Nothing bonds people together better than food.
2. Random Ice Cream Run
My first date with my boyfriend was an 8pm ice cream run, and it has been one of the most memorable stories of our lives (And for only $8!) ! We got to learn so much about each other in that date alone, from our favorite ice cream flavors, to what our favorite songs were at that moment! We ate our ice cream, and went for a car ride and talked for HOURS.
3. Go On A Hike
If you're the adventurous type, Google search hiking trails near you that you and your partner can do together! It can be fun to get out and really experience nature, rather than experiencing it through what we see on our phones! Just remember to always bring water, wear bug spray, go when its light out and ALWAYS follow the path!
4. Go Camping
*Inserts Campfire Song* No, but seriously, camping can be so fun! And it's super inexpensive! You can Google Search local campground sites where you can rent a space to hitch a tent, or even rent a small cabin if you prefer! Most parks that allow campers have grills on site so you can cook while you're there! You can go fishing, hike, play board games or tell scary stories by the campfire while you chow down on s'mores. It's even more fun if you go with a group of other couples!
5. Throw a BBQ
Don't have time to go camping to have a BBQ? Host one at your house! Take an afternoon, grill up some hotdogs and hamburgers have some alcoholic drinks on hand, and blast your favorite summer tunes in the comfort of your own home!
6. Go Swimming!
Whether it's at your pool, your partner's pool, your friend's pool, the public pool, or even a local lake or ocean, jumping into some cool water on a hot summer day is always fun! You can blow up some cool designed floaties and drift away into the day and just talk about anything and everything!
If you and your partner want to do something that makes you feel good, research some local organizations that need volunteer help! (Hint Hint: Animal Shelters are always looking for volunteers to help with the animals, ESPECIALLY in the summer)
8. Take Tour Dog(s) to the Dog Park.
Who doesn't love spending time with their doggo?! If you and bae both have dogs, go on a double date and bring them to a dog park! It is always so entertaining watching dogs play with one another.
9. Have a fun photoshoot!
You don't need a $3000 to go take some fun and cool pictures together! Get a Polaroid camera, or even use your IPhone camera, and go explore some local areas to take pictures of or with!
10. Cliff Jump
Of course, make sure this a safe place to cliff jump, but if you and your partner are adrenaline junkies, this is the perfect inexpensive summer date!
11. ROAAADDD TRIPPP!!
You don't have to go anywhere far, but pick a place you both have never been, and just GO. Enjoy the ride, windows air, hands in the air, hair blowing in the wind! Take this alone time together to talk, and come up with some things you can do at your destination!
12. Go to a Drive In Movie Theatre
Although there aren't too many around, there are a few that open up during the summer, you just have to do your research!! Party like it's 1955, get a big popcorn, soda, and sit back and relax in the comfort of your own car as you watch a movie!
13. Go a Sports Game
You don't have to bleed your wallet dry by going to a professional sports event where water is $10! Go support local sports teams! Prices for local sports teams range from $0-$50 MAX and the concession stands are so much cheaper! (Support local business!) It's super fun and entertaining!
14. Go Mini Golfing
If you and Bae are both competitive, go for a fun game of mini golfing! Mini Golfing is super affordable, and can be super fun if you go with the right person! Spice it up by making loser buy ice cream!
15. Go Bike Riding or RollerBlading
Save the environment, get some exercise and spend time with your partner by going biking! Most people have a bike, and if you don't, it is not too expensive to rent one. If you aren't a fan of biking, try rollerblading! That's always fun too!
16. Watch Fireworks
Most towns host annual fireworks during the summer, so pull up a lawn chair or a blanket and look up at the beautiful fireworks on a clear summer night!
I hope you guys enjoyed this list, and if you have any more summer date suggestions, email them to me and I may add them to this list!
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
