2019. Damn. You have been one roller coaster ride for your girl. Some days it feels like this roller coaster just keeps going down and down and there's no way up. Some days I would just talk to myself on my porch and talk positivity back into my life and talk about everything I was going to do, then forget about my goals and then get upset with myself again and it just has been a vicious cycle.
But no more.
I can't keep holding myself back from my own happiness. I am so young and have so many goals I want to achieve, but as you all know, time doesn't stop for anyone.
Even on days I feel alone in how I feel, I know I am not. People message me when I post motivational quotes, saying things like how much they needed that message or how it changed the way they think. So, I thought to myself, why not motivate every day? How can I motivate myself and others and find a way to check on one's self care? So I came up with the Happ.I.Ness Project, because you can't spell Happiness without "I". It's a way of reminding yourself "Only I can control my happiness. Only I can control how my life goes."
Studies have shown that on average, it takes about 66 days to keep a habit. So I created a calendar for 66 days. Everyday I will write a list of my daily goals in my journal, and I will take 5 minutes at the end of the day to reflect on my day and my feelings. Everyday I will have a new specific goal for that day. Follow me on my journey, and I hope you will join in on this project and send me your results!
(I will write out all 66 days of goals. If you can't do certain things on certain days, that's ok! Switch days with another goal!)
Get yourself a journal to write down your daily goals and your progress during this project. Write what you want to get done each day and make sure you check things off one by one.
Rebecca: I started to write down all my goals and lists in my new Steve Madden journal. It feels so good to actually write everything down! I noticed I was more motivated to finish everything I wanted to do since it was right in front of my face. I feel like I am capable of anything I set my mind too and I am so ready to keep this journey going. I can already tell this is going to change my life.
Go for a walk. Doesn't matter when or how long. Disconnect from technology and embrace the walk.
Rebecca: I took my dog Loki on a new walk to a new park I found on my way home from my parents' house the other day. It was so peaceful. No one bothered us, and we had the baseball field that we can run around on and then sunbathe after an intense tug-of-war session. I am so glad we walked when we did because not too long later it down poured!
Take time to read a book. You can read any type of book, whatever makes you happy and allows you to unplug from the world! MAKE TIME TO DO THESE THINGS FOR YOURSELF.
Rebecca: So i am big into reading self help books (even though I think a lot are super cliche and corny) but I just started reading “How To UnF*ck Yourself” I am binging this book and can’t wait to read more and learn!
Declutter your personal space. Doesn't matter if you start with a whole room or even just a drawer. Simplicity is key.
Rebecca: I absolutely love cleaning out my closets and drawers! Mike recently taught me a new way how to decide whether something should be thrown out or not and it’s really helped. I also have been following @RiOrganize on Instagram to get some inspiration on how to reorganize my townhouse!
Go to bed 30 minutes earlier than usual. Put your phone on the other side of the room, close your eyes and relax. You will notice overtime how much that 30 minutes can make a difference.
Rebecca: I have been soooo drained these past couple days that it was nice knowing I had allotted time in my life to fall asleep a little earlier than usual. I am writing this the following morning and I feel so full of energy and ready to start the day!
Name 5 things you are thankful for today:
